올해도 내가 좋아하는 크리스마스가 찾아왔다.
올해는 뭔가 특별한 크리스마스를 만들고 싶었다.
나에게 너무도 힘들고 지쳤던 2008년이라 그것에 대한 보상으로,
그리고 그렇게 방황하던 나를 지켜준 그 사람에 대한 보답으로...

해주고 싶은건 너무 많았지만, 할수 있는 게 거의 없었다.ㅡ,.ㅡa
결국 내 상상 속 환상적인 이벤트 계획 중 가장 심플한 것으로
우리가 맞이했던 크리스마스 중 가장 특별한 크리스마스를 맞이했다.
(좋은 의미로 특별한.. 언제였든가 크리스마스이브 저녁에 대판 싸웠던건... 고것 빼고..ㅋ)

메리 크리스마스....^^

사진을 찍는 것도,
피아노를 치는 것도,
영화를 보는 것도 잊고...

시간이 흘렀다.

미친 듯이 운동에 몰두하기도 하고,
잠시 일지매와 개늑시에 빠져 있기도 했다.

솔직히 모르겠다. 지난 두 달이 잘 기억나지가 않는다.

내 머릿속에서도, 내 다이어리에서도, 내 블로그에서도
마치 누군가 지워버린 것처럼 깨끗이 공백으로 남아있다.

그렇게 잊혀진 시간 속에서도
내 머리카락은 자라고, 시간의 흔적은 가슴에 남았다.

오랜만에 찾은 내 블로그에서 두 달전에 하염없이 듣던 그 음악을 다시 듣고,
오래전에 저장해 놓았던 이터널 선샤인을 다시 플레이 해 보고,
두달간 펼치지 않았던 악보를 다시 꺼내 보면서..

나는 비로소 '제자리'를 찾아 온 것을 느끼고 안도했다.

언제나 미지의 영역을 향해 발걸음을 내딛다가도
이렇게 익숙한 것들에게 돌아오고야 만다.

나에게 진보란 언제나 더디게 찾아오는 것 같다.

아니.. 어쩌면 언제나 난 같은 자리에서 맴돌았던 것만 같다.

내 '짝지'는 내 블로그에 들어올 때마다 어떻게 자기 얘기는 한마디도 없냐고 투덜거린다.
하루에 70여명이 들어올까말까하는 이 불쌍한 블로그에
굳이 자기 얘기가 없다고 서운해할건 또 무언가.. 싶기도 하지만,
사람 마음이 그런가보다.
확인하고 싶고, 확인받고 싶고... 그런 유치한 감정에 때론 서운해하고 때론 삐치고 하는 그런게...

아무튼..
난 그때마다 번번히 그런 그에게 무표정한 얼굴로 단호하게 말한다.
"난 절대, 내 '개인적인 공간'에 나 iaggo가 아닌,
다른 누군가의 딸, 아내, 혹은 엄마라는 이름표를 붙히는 짓따윈 하지 않을거야!!"
그리고 이 대답에 그는 더더욱 샐쭉해지곤 한다.

이런 결벽증(?)이 내 세상을 삭막하게 만드는 원임임에는 틀림없겠지만
그래도 내 모든 감정과 느낌들이 다른 누군가를 통해서 이루어지고, 그런 관계에 집착하는 모습을 보이느니
차라리 이기적이고 제멋대로인 편을 택해왔다.

'사랑'이라고 하는 감정도 마찬가지였다.
(물론 지금 이 순간까지도 '사랑'이라 정의내려진 감정에 대해 회의적인 것은 여전하지만,)
내가 좋아하기 때문에 갖고 싶어하는 것, 그나마 싫증을 쉬이 내지 않는 것...
사람에 대한 '사랑'을 내 식대로 정의하자면 대략 이런 뜻이 아닐까..?
좀 슬프지만.. 솔직히 말해서... 이 이상도, 이 이하도 아니었던 것 같다.
때문에, 그깟(!) '사랑'이라고 하는 것 따위에 휘둘리고 싶지 않았다.
연인과 함께 간 까페를 기억하고, 함께 먹은 음식을 기억하고,
연인이 준 선물에 집착하고, 연인을 기쁘게 해주기 위해 골몰하고...
그런 꼴. 불. 견.은 정말 내 스타일이 아니다.

이랬던 내가,

오늘
내 사랑의 크기를 생각하게 되어 버렸다.

오늘 아침...
다소 참담한 심정으로, 향후 내 인생 5년을 속박하는 문서에 서명한 후,
난 진지하게 내가 이런 짓을 하게 된 이유를 생각했다.

연애는 신기해서 했고,
결혼은 어쩔 수 없어서 했고,
같이 사는 건 혼자 살 때하고 별반 차이가 없어서 그냥 하고 있다.

그런데, 오늘 '이건' 도대체 무엇으로 설명해야 한단 말인가...

그래.. 이런 게 바로 사랑인거야..

그거 말고는 설명할 수가 없어!

결국,
난 내 사랑을 확인했다.
한장의 서류 위에 뜨거운 내 사랑의 실체가 금액으로 표시되어 있었다.

그 크기는 생각보다 약소했지만,
그 의미는 생각보다 감동적이었다.

그래, 요란한 결혼식의 서약보다 이 편이 훨씬 진실되 보인다.
좀 씁쓸하지만, 뭐.. 어차피 사랑 같은건, 이런 상황에서 더더욱 빛을 발하는 것이 아니던가..

짝지야, 나 정말 짝지를 사랑하긴 하나봐.
오늘, 난 짝지 때문에 '그 일'도 하고, 여기다 글도 쓰고 있네..

이건 참.. 나 답지 않은 일이라구...

근데.. 왜 난 사랑을 말하면서, 속이 쓰린걸까....? T^T

그랜드 피아노와 일반피아노의 차이점이라니....
첨엔 바보같은 질문이라고 생각했다.
그런데 답변을 천천히 읽어내려가다보니,
내가 이제껏 얼마나 생각없이 피아노라는 악기를 대해왔는지
통감할 수밖에 없었다.
너무 익숙해서 다 안다고 생각해버리는 실수..

요즘 악기에 관심이 많아졌는데 그랜드 피아노와 일반 피아노 어떻게 다르죠?

제가 그랜드 피아노는 한번도 안 쳐봤거든요....

한 번 쳐보고 싶어요!! 일반 피아노 2개 치고 있는데 둘 다 음이 둔탁하다고나 할까?

청아하지 못하고 뭔가...좀 그래요ㅠㅜ

그랜드 피아노는 어떤지 궁금하구요!

혹시 그랜드 피아노 공짜로 쳐 볼 수 있는 그런 곳은 없을까요?

부탁드립니다!! 내공도 걸어요.

1)원래 피아노라는 악기는 그랜드 피아노를 뜻합니다.

초기의 쳄발로, 하프시코드의 모양 역시 그랜드 피아노를 축소시킨 모양과 비슷하지요.

하지만 피아노 제작법이 갈수록 발전하고 악기가 점점 육중하게 변함에 따라서 보통 가정에 두기는 힘들어졌죠.

물론 피아노는 처음 탄생부터 아주 사치품이었기 때문에 '보통' 서민 가정에는 없었으리라고 추측합니다만..

어쨌거나 베토벤과 쇼팽, 리스트의 피아노 음악들은 피아노 제작자들을 흥분시키기 시작했고, 제작자들은 그들의 작품에 걸맞는, 음역이 넓고 튼튼하며 음향이 아주 큰 피아노를 만들게 됩니다.

문제는 이런 큰 피아노들을 일반 가정에 두는 것은 소음면이나 경제사정면에서 아주 부담되는 일이지요.

2)그래서 발명한 것이 업라이트 피아노입니다.

현을 수평으로 눕힌 것이 아니라 수직으로 세웠고 향판과 공명통이 가정용에 걸맞게 대폭 줄어들었습니다.

현을 세우게 되니 자연스레 건반과 해머의 매커니즘도 바뀌게 되었죠.

그랜드 피아노는 해머가 아래에서 위로 때리는 방식인데 비해, 업라이트 피아노는 앞에서 뒤로 때리는 방식입니다.

그리고 그랜드 피아노는 윗부분을 열어두어 소리가 위로 퍼지게 되어있는데 업라이트 피아노는 상자 형태로 소리를 가둬두어 울림이 적습니다.(물론 윗부분을 열수는 있으나 현과 수직으로 열리기 때문에 효과는 적습니다.)

3)뚜렷한 차이를 말씀드린다면,

첫째로 그랜드 피아노가 소리가 더 크고 울림이 좋습니다. 현이 길고(최대 3m), 향판과 공명통이 큰데다 개방구조이기 때문이지요.

둘째로 그랜드 피아노와 업라이트 피아노는 페달이 다릅니다. 음향이 다르기 때문에 음향을 조절하는 장치인 페달의 기능 역시 다를 수 밖에 없지요. 물론 가장 오른쪽에 있는 댐퍼 페달은 똑같습니다만...

셋째로 그랜드피아노의 터치가 좀더 딱딱합니다(무거운게 아니라). 업라이트 건반은 푹푹 꺼지는 느낌인데 비해 그랜드 피아노 건반은 많이 들어가지 않으며, 연주자의 힘조절에 따라 훨씬 민감하게 반응합니다.

넷째로 주법이 아주 미세하게 다릅니다. 대체로 똑같지만 해머의 작동방식이 다르기 때문에 몇몇 연주기교는 그랜드 피아노에서만 가능합니다. 글리산도(미끄러지는 기술) 주법도 그랜드에서 훨씬 수월한 편이며, 빠른 트레몰로 역시 그랜드피아노에서만 완벽하게 가능합니다.

4)업라이트 피아노는 피아노 브랜드에 따라 수준차이가 많이 나지 않으나 그랜드 피아노는 기술력의 차이가 많이 납니다.

업라이트 삼익과 야마하는 눈감고 들으면 거의 식별이 불가능한데 그랜드는 눈감고 들어도 차이가 확연합니다.

브랜드에 따라 주력상품이 다르기 때문이지요. 국내 업계는 업라이트가 주된 모델인 반면, 야마하, 가와이 같은 브랜드는 그랜드가 주력 상품입니다.

게다가 스타인웨이, 뵈젠도르퍼, 파지올리 같은 메이커는 업라이트를 거의 만들지 않습니다.(스타인웨이 업라이트도 있기는 합니다만...뵈젠도르퍼는 있는지 모르겠네요.)

업라이트는 닫힌 구조이기 때문에 소리가 적게 울려 음질이 고마고마하게 느껴지는 편이지만 그랜드는 악기의 모든 부분은 100%활용하는 열린 구조이기 때문에 메이커별로 기술력 차이가 많이 납니다.

5)피아노 전공하는 사람들도 스타인웨이 한번 못쳐보는 경우가 많죠.

지명도가 높은 음대나, 동창회가 튼튼한 음대의 경우 스타인웨이 피아노를 홀에 갖춰놓는 편이지만,

그렇지 못한 대다수 음악대학에는 삼익이나 영창 그랜드가 보통입니다.

스타인웨이의 경우 가정용 그랜드가 9000만원 정도, 연주홀용 그랜드가 1억7천~2억(환율에 따라) 정도 하는 편이니 소규모 홀에서는 접하기 힘들다고 할 수가 있습니다.

뵈젠도르퍼의 경우 수공비율이 100%에 가깝기 때문에 스타인웨이보다 비쌉니다.

그리고 이런 피아노들은 아무에게나 팔지 않습니다. 1년에 몇 대 만들지 않고, 고객의 네임밸류나 실력을 보고 판매합니다.

6)그랜드 피아노를 공짜로 쳐보고 싶으시다면 음악대학의 홀은 잘 개방되어 있지 않고, 학교 강당 같은 곳에 있는 것을 칠 수 있을 것 같습니다. 대신 별로 잘 관리되고 있는 경우는 드물지요.

큰 웨딩홀에도 그랜드 피아노가 있습니다. 결혼식에 가면 잠시 짬을 이용해서 칠 수도 있겠지요.

moby는 예전에 엑파의 삽입곡 My Weakness로 알게됐더랬다.
그 음악을 찾으면서
moby와 그의 음악에 관한 짧막한 소개글을 읽다보면
솔직히 고개를 갸우뚱할 수밖에 없었다.
My Weakness와 같은 음악만을 안다면 당연한 일인지도..
아무튼 일렉트로닉, 테크노, 얼터너티브 등등
온갖 다재다능 잡학다식한(결코 비하하는 것이 아님!!)
그의 면모를 확인할 계기가 되었다고나 할까..

(물론 영화 자체에 대한 매력과
엔딩 크레딧과의 싱크로율 200%를 자랑하는 이 곡의 진수는
일단 차치하고서...)

즉흥곡집(Impromptus) Op.90(4곡)과 Op.142(4곡)는
독창적인 낭만주의 피아니즘의 표출이라 할 수 있고,
이 두 작품집은 슈베르트가 타계한 해인
1828년 완성되었다.

'즉흥곡'이라는 타이틀은 작곡자 자신에 의해서가 아니라
Op.90을 출판한 하슬링거의 아이디어였다고 한다.
(Op.142는 디아벨리에 의해 출판되었다.)

두 곡에 나타나 있는 작곡기법의 특징은
슈베르트가 그의 가곡으로부터 영향받은 듯한 성악적인 요소들이
산재하고 있다는 점이다.
그의 피아노 음악에 나타나는 주요테마들은
성악곡의 선율을 연상케하는데,
성악가가 프레이즈를
자연스럽게 호흡의 길이에 맞추듯이
피아니스트 또한, 멜로디 라인을 아주 유연하면서도 정교하게
프레이즈의 마지막 음까지 음과 음 사이를 잘 이어나가야 함을 강조하였고,
보통 첫 박에 느끼는 메트리컬 악센트는 자제되어야만 한다.
그리고 베토벤의 후기 작품보다 더 높은 음역을 사용하는 것도 눈에 띈다.

슈베르트 특유의 서정적인 선율이 잘 녹아 들어있음과 동시에
형식적인 제약이 거의 없는 자유로운 분위기가
부담감없이 감상에 몰입할 수 있는 동기를 제공해준다.

영화 Vier Minuten (Four Minutes)를 보고
솔직히 예상했던 만큼
크고 깊은 감정의 파장은 못 느꼈던건 사실이다.
그러나
크뤼거 부인의
음악에 대한 고집에 가까운 열정과
오랜 세월 스스로를 감금해 온
속죄의 감정이
슈베르트의 즉흥곡 선율과 만나는 순간,
어떤 울림이...
내 손끝마저 떨리게 하는
알 수 없는 울림이 이는 것을 느꼈다.

이제껏 내게 있어,
슈베르트는 언제나 따분하게만 느껴졌다.
마왕이나 숭어 같이
워낙에 유명한 곡들을 교과서에서 만날 때 마저도
하품부터 나오곤 했다.
위인전 속의 슈베르트 역시,
어린 나이의 내가 보아도 가슴을 칠 정도로
연약하고 답답하며 재미없는 인물일 뿐이었다.
(그에 반해 그의 스승이었던 베토벤의 삶은
얼마나 격정적인가!!
얼마전만 해도 그의 생애 한토막을 그린
[카핑 베토벤]을 보고서 영화의 완성도와 상관없이
'합창'의 연주만으로도 울먹일 수밖에 없었다.)
햇수로 20년 째 피아노를 띵땅거리는 나지만,
생각해보면
단한번도 진지하게 슈베르트의 곡을 연주한 적이 없었던 것 같다.

그날,
점점 더 강해지는 이 울림이 슈베르트의 선율임을 알아내자마자
서점으로 달려가 악보를 샀다.
지독한 완벽주의자, 부서질 듯 소심하고 연약한 천재...
슈베르트의 곡을 연습중이라는 어떤 분의 표현에 따르면,
너무도 고심해서 음표 하나하나를 배치했기 때문에
음 하나 쉼표 하나도 놓치거나 바꾸면
전체의 흐름이 달라져 버린다는
그의 음악...

[노다메 칸타빌레]에서
노다메 짱이 콩쿨에서 1차 심사 때 연주했던 곡 역시 슈베르트의 곡이었다.
그때 노다메는 본인의 성향과 전혀 맞지 않는 슈베르트를 붙들고서
'까다로운 사람'이라며 치아키에게 하소연한다.
그때 치아키가 노다메에게 답으로 보낸 문자가 기억에 남는다.

'노다메,연습 잘 하고 있어?
슈베르트는 정말 「까다로운」 사람 일까?
혼자만 말하지 말고 상대방의 말도 제대로 들어

악보를 정면으로 마주해 봐

...

거봐, 이제 보이잖아..
이 곡의 정경이...'

그래...
나도...

탄천

"혹시 인라인 같은 거 타시는 분 없으세여?"

모든 것은 이 말 한마디로부터 시작되었다.
별 기대 없이 던진 내 한마디가 씨가 되어
우리는 그날 탄천으로 향했다.

파트장님이 장소 섭외하고
인라인 2개 가진 사람이 없는 사람 빌려주고
그래도 비는 사람 찍사 시키고
신사옥 가는 이삿짐 후딱 싼 다음
탄천으로 고고~!!

불안불안 걸음마 단계를 거쳐
인라인 첨 타본다던 두 처자들,
결국 나름 수준급으로 타게 만든
보람있는 하루였다. ㅋㅋㅋ

초반에 사고로 재훈씨 피보시고
나 역시 지금 무릎이며 어깨며 파쓰 냄새 진동하지만,

그래도.. 또 타고 싶다...

아.. 인라인...

내, 드디어 3년전 10만원의 한을 푸는 구나...

쿠휄휄..
